Mike Walton

Mike Walton is a native of GA who began studying saxophone at the age of 10.  In high school, he began to study jazz under Kenyon Carter which led him to earn his bachelors degree in music performance at Valdosta State University. In 2012, he enrolled at Georgia State University where he received his masters degree in Jazz studies. While in Atlanta, Mike has had the opportunity to perform with some of the best musicians in the city including Joe Gransden, Russell Gunn, and Mace Hibbard. He has even performed with internationally known artists such as Donny McCaslin, Eddie Daniels and Joey Defrancesco. While his primary instrument is saxophone, Mike performs on clarinet and has basic proficiency on piano.

Mike’s biggest passion is music and believes everyone should be able to experience playing music to some degree. He believes that music enriches the lives of anyone who learns to play an instrument and that the lessons learned from studying an instrument can easily apply to other areas of life. And above all else…music is just plain fun!
