Nadine Ann Torres was born and raised in New York City in the Lower East side where she considers herself lucky to be born and raised in a time and area where the influence of music drove her to become the great artist she is today. She came from a musical family. Her father Juan Torres was a musician, her grandfather, uncles and other relatives also were/are musicians.

She studied music there at the Arts for Living Center with the great Paul West and Victor Venegas, from there she went to the Johnny Colon Music School where she got her training in
Salsa & Latin Jazz. She has been playing Bass professionally since 1974.
Nadine has 5 children all of which she is very proud of. Her eldest son Rich Viruet is a renowned trumpet player.

She began her career singing and was blessed to record with: Guarare, Daniel Santos, Raul Marerro, Charanga 76 with Hansel & Raul, Tipicas 73, Ray Reyes & Jr Vega, she also recorded an album singing lead accompanied by, Piano: Paquito Pastor, Bass: Guillermo Echil, Timbales: Nicky Marerro, Conga: Angel Perez, Trumpet: Chocolate Almentero, Jr Vega Ite Jerez, Sax: Mario Rivera, Trombone: Jose Rodriguez, Raynaldo Jorge, Director: Gonzalo Fernadez, and Engineer: John Fausty. Was also a singer in the live recording of the Barry Harris Orchestral Chorus in New York City.
She also played bass with, Charlie Palmieri , Vitin Avilez, Mongito el Unico, Edy Martinez, La Sonora Matancera, and many more.
Nadine was also the musical director of Las Chicas of NY, and played with many merengue bands Including Joseito Mateo in the merengue explosion of the 80′s.

Danny Harper Jam Session – Atlanta’s Longest Running Jazz Jam Session – Tues., Feb. 7, 2012

Danny Harper is keeping straight-ahead jazz going strong in Atlanta. He has had a #1 Billboard hit & commenced the jam sessions at the world renowned Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. Danny’s jam session bring out the diversity in jazz by featuring seasoned vocalist performing jazz & blues classics, up & coming young musicians and cutting edge jazz formats that include poetry.

Danny Harper’s jam session attracts a variety of people ages 20 to 70, including both locals and tourists. The musicians and audience together make up a racially diverse crowd. Celebrities such as rap star Ludacris, singer India Arie, comedian Ron White, and actress Winona Ryder have all patronized of Churchill Grounds. Anyone who comes is sure to feel welcome.

Churchill Grounds is an intimate place similar to a European lounge. Its candle-lit tables and pictures of jazz legends on the wall help make it a shrine to jazz. It attracts some of the city’s best musicians like Joe Gransden, Russell Gunn, and WCLK radio personality Riva Blue. Producer and actor Tyler Perry used the venue as a setting for his 2005 film “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.” Part of Churchill Grounds’ appeal is the musical melting pot along with the different styles of jazz such as vocal jazz and bluesy jazz.

CC Booker III features tenor titan Will Scruggs and B3 devotee Nate Shaw. The band features New York native, Nate Shaw, on keys and Atlanta native, Will Scruggs, on horns. Kipper Jones

The history of Kipper Jones is a timeline through the history of the modern Black music industry. Motown trained as a session singer at 15, during the last of the Berry Gordy era and as part of the venerable R&B/Funk outfit, Tease.

Kipper Jones has performed and recorded with a multi-generational mix of industry lore, but it’s been as a songwriter where the legend of Kipper Jones is most associated. From crafting Vanessa Williams “The Right Stuff”, as well as the double platinum follow-up, “The Comfort Zone”, to the landmark Atlantic Records debut for artist Brandy (2), which included several Kipper Jones compositions, “I Wanna Be Down”, “Brokenhearted”, and the record setting, “Baby”.
